iOS & iPad OS Beta 4, 5 Major Vulnerabilities !
Device name: iPhone 15 Pro Max Purchase date: January this year Usage: The following problems never occurred before upgrading to iOS18.1 beta4 and 5 Current system version: iOS 18.1 beta 5 (22B5054e) Current status: System stuck, unable to operate, abnormal heating, battery capacity reduced by 1% after upgrading to beta5 Detailed description: My phone has been in normal use since purchase, and I have never downloaded or installed cracking tools or files from unknown sources. I concluded that the problem was caused by upgrading the beta version of the ios system. During a period of time when using ios18 beta 4, the phone suddenly became inoperable, the screen failed intermittently, and the failure time became longer and longer. Specifically, the app cannot be operated, and there is no response to sliding up and down, left and right, clicking, touching, and long pressing (almost all APPs, not an exception). In recent days, I found that this phenomenon of the phone seems to be related to charging. Every time it is fully charged, it will not be able to operate when the device is turned on. The iPad and iPhone have the same reaction. During the period when the device is unresponsive, iCloud cannot be synchronized normally, the phone heats up, the software crashes, white dots appear on the edge of the screen (just like a bad pixel on the screen), the video cannot be loaded, and a series of problems. Supplement: Which version can solve these problems? How to return to the official version without flashing? Can I receive version push normally by turning off the beta test switch? Feeling: Since I did not make a full backup of the lower version, I hope that iOS18.1beta5 will solve the problem. Unfortunately, it is still not solved in beta5, and the problem is getting worse. My phone is now a brick and cannot be used normally. This accident is the first time I have encountered such a serious problem since I used Apple devices. I am very disappointed. I hope Apple engineers can fix it as soon as possible.

How the iOS 18 Control Widget displays an AppIntentError to the user.
My app is an outdoor exercise tracking app that allows you to start exercising from the Control widget。 I want to prompt the user with an AppIntentError.PermissionRequired.location error when the user doesn't authorize Core Location permissions. When I throw error in the Intent, tap the Control widget doesn't do anything and doesn't give the user any indication of what's happening

iOS 18- charging
Since updating my iphone 12 to iOS 18, my phone either doesn’t charge unless the wire is in a certain position or if it is charging it’s very slow. I’ve tried multiple wires with multiple plugs and it’s all the same. I had no issues before updating and now wish I hadn’t updated because I can’t afford to go and buy a new phone.

Crash register push notification swift6
Hi when setting the language to iOS 6 my app crashes on this piece of code: func registerForPushNotifications() { UNUserNotificationCenter.current().requestAuthorization(options: [.alert, .sound, .badge]) { granted, error in print("Permission granted: \(granted)") guard granted else { return } self.getNotificationSettings() } } It has to do with the requestAuthorization When I restart the app it crashes immediately. This is because I had already made a choice for this. When I change the language back to swift 5 it works fine again. Removing the self.getNotifcationSettings has nothing to do with it. Also tried to add @MainActor to the function. This is the tread where it crashes on: Thread 7 Queue : com.apple.usernotifications.UNUserNotificationServiceConnection.call-out (serial) Does anybody have a idea how to fix this?

How to enforce URLSession to use HTTP/1.1
Hello there, I'm trying to consume graph.microsoft.com API by using URLSession. But I'm getting Error 400 from the server every time when I send a request with URLSession, but not if I use Postman for the same request. And when I examined the requests with Fiddler, I noticed that URLSession use HTTP/2, and Postman use HTTP/1.1. According to the Microsoft's documentation graph.microsoft.com supports only HTTP/1.1. As I understand URLSession decides to which version of HTTP to use during ALPN and will use HTTP/2 only if the server support it. My question is it possible the graph server to advertise itself as its support HTTP/2 and how to determinate this? Or maybe, which is more likely URLSession has bug that make it to do the wrong assumption about the HTTP/2. And most important there is there a mechanism to make URLSession to use a certain version of HTTP? Thank you in advance, Emil

Multiple subscriptions of the same product
Hello, I have an app where the users can connect their vehicles to an API and record trips and so on. Currently I have one subscription, where the user can add as many vehicles as he wants. But now I want (need) to change this to one vehicle per subscription. So if the user want to add two vehicles, he need to subscribe two times to the same product. How can I handle this? Thanks, Arangoool

Creating file bookmarks doesn't work anymore on macOS 15 Sequoia
Before updating to macOS 15 Sequoia, I used to be able to create file bookmarks with this code: let openPanel = NSOpenPanel() openPanel.runModal() let url = openPanel.urls[0] do { let _ = try url.bookmarkData(options: [.withSecurityScope]) } catch { print(error) } Now I get an error Error Domain=NSCocoaErrorDomain Code=256 "Failed to retrieve app-scope key" These are the entitlements: com.apple.security.app-sandbox com.apple.security.files.user-selected.read-write com.apple.security.files.bookmarks.app-scope Strangely, my own apps continued working, after updating to macOS 15 some days ago, until a few moments ago. Then it seems that all of a sudden my existing bookmarks couldn't be resolved anymore, and no new bookmarks could be created. What could be the problem?

Opening up Siri prefs from an app
In our onboarding sequence we inform the user that Siri is required and to set it up if they have it off. We have a link that takes us to the root of the Systems tree, but have been unable to get it to launch into the Siri prefs itself, using a scheme that's widely available on StackOverflow, GitHub and so on. ChatGPT says it can't be done as of 2022. I see a list on GitHub of the domains that was last updated just a year ago, suggesting that at least as of 17 it "should" work. Another place said Apple would bounce apps which attempt to do that (we have the recommended URL string already in there which should have been detectable by their scans, and have not been bounced due to that so far).

iOS 18 Control Widget that opens a URL
I already have an iOS 17 App Intent that works with a URL: @available(iOS 16, *) struct MyAppIntent: AppIntent { static let title : LocalizedStringResource = "My App Inent" static let openAppWhenRun : Bool = true @MainActor func perform() async throws -> some IntentResult{ await UIApplication.shared.open(URL(string: "myapp://myappintent")!) return .result() } } Now, with iOS 18 and Control Widgets, I want to create a Control Widget button that smply opens the app with the same URL. However UIApplication code is not allowed within extensions. For this, Apple says to use OpenIntent which is shown here: Link Apple Sample Code from the link: import AppIntents struct LaunchAppIntent: OpenIntent { static var title: LocalizedStringResource = "Launch App" @Parameter(title: "Target") var target: LaunchAppEnum } enum LaunchAppEnum: String, AppEnum { case timer case history static var typeDisplayRepresentation = TypeDisplayRepresentation("Productivity Timer's app screens") static var caseDisplayRepresentations = [ LaunchAppEnum.timer : DisplayRepresentation("Timer"), LaunchAppEnum.history : DisplayRepresentation("History") ] } WWDC session video about this does not cover this particular method in detail and also this sample code is a bit confusing. So how can I alter this code to just open the app with a URL?

iOS18 UDP failed to send data
iOS18 UDP fails to send data, iOS other systems fine Device discovery by broadcasting over UDP Failed to send data to the discovered device using UDP communication This problem only occurs on iOS18, other iOS versions work fine I read the official forum of Apple, it is recommended to use BSD socket to send data, and it cannot be sent on iOS18. I suspect that the device privacy permission is found locally, which is invalid on iOS18

Sorting with Complex & Arbitrary Nested Models
I’m developing an app for inspections that allows users to develop their own template for inspections. Because of this, my data structure has become more than a little complex (see below). This structure does allow a great deal in flexibility, through, as users can add groups, rows, and individual fields as needed. For example, users can add a header group, then a row to the header with fields for the Building Number, Unit Number, & Inspection Date. However, I don’t have an efficient way to sort the inspections by the values in these fields. SwiftData sorting is keypath based, which won’t allow me to sort the inspections based on the values only in fields with specific labels. As an alternative, I can query for fields with a specific label and do a compactMap to the inspection. But this doesn’t scale well when working with potentially hundreds or thousands of inspections as compactMap takes a lot longer then the query takes. It also doesn’t work well if I want to filter inspections or sort using values in multiple user defined fields. Models below are greatly simplified to just get the point across. More than happy to provide some additional code if asked when I’m back at my laptop with the source code. (Typing this on my iPad at the moment) @Model final class Inspection { // init and other fields var groups: [Group]? } @Model final class Group { // init and other fields @Relationship(inverse: \Inspection.groups) var inspection: Inspection? var rows: [Row]? } @Model final class Row { // init and other fields @Relationship(inverse: \Group.rows) var group: Group? var fields: [Field]? } @Model final class Field { // init and other fields var label: String? var type: FieldType // enum, denoting what type of data this is storing var stringValue: String? var boolValue: Bool? var dateValue: Date? @Attribute(.externalStorage) var dataValue: Data? @Relationship(inverse: \Row.fields) var row: Row? }

How to contact the NSFileProviderDomainUsageDescription
Hi,Regarding FileProvider, I know it has a permission authorization pop-up to control whether to open the FileProvider extension in the application settings But when I first used it, the switch was turned off by default. I noticed that some applications can pop up an authorization pop-up to prompt the user to turn on this permission I would like to ask what API this authorization pop-up is displayed through I expect the authorization pop-up window to pop up as shown in the following picture Thanks

Opening the Extension menu in the System Preferences
Hi there, I have two extension in my App, a Finder Sync and a Share Extension. Because these are disabled by default and automatically enabling them is, according to my extensive research, not possible, I want to provide an easy way for the user to enable the extensions when the app is opened. I am currently displaying a popup, with a button to open the preferences. I have struggled with this a bit, by now I managed to open the main preferences window using NSWorkspace.shared.open(URL(string: "x-apple.systempreferences:com.apple.preference")!) which is rather suboptimal though, since the user has to select the extensions option manually and isn't directly redirected there. What I have also found is that the menu of the FinderSyncExtension can be opened directly by using FIFinderSyncController.showExtensionManagementInterface() which is unfortunately suboptimal as well, because it only shows the managment interface of the finder extension and not the overview of all extensions. Is there any way to either enable the extensions programatically, or if not, is there a way to show the "Added Extensions" portion of the Extensions menu in the system preferences?

Why is willPresentNotification called twice here?
Please find below a complete app example. It has a button, when you press it, a local notification is created. However, the UnNotificationCenter.delegate is called twice, and I can't understand why. I am trying to move my project from Objective-C to Swift, and my similar code there doesn't get called twice, so I'm confused. Can anybody shine a light on this? Pointers appreciated. App: @main struct NotifTestApp: App { init() { UNUserNotificationCenter.current().delegate = NotificationReceiveHandler.shared configureUserNotifications() } var body: some Scene { WindowGroup { ContentView() } } private func configureUserNotifications() { UNUserNotificationCenter.current().requestAuthorization(options: [.alert, .badge, .sound]) { granted, error in if granted { print("Notification permission granted.") } else if let error = error { print("Error requesting notification permissions: \(error)") } } } } class NotificationReceiveHandler: NSObject, UNUserNotificationCenterDelegate { static let shared = NotificationReceiveHandler() //>> THIS IS CALLED TWICE WHEN I PRESS THE BUTTON func userNotificationCenter(_ center: UNUserNotificationCenter, willPresent notification: UNNotification, withCompletionHandler completionHandler: @escaping (UNNotificationPresentationOptions) -> Void) { NSLog(">>> Will present notification!") completionHandler([.sound]) } } ///THE UI struct ContentView: View { var body: some View { VStack { Text("👾") .imageScale(.large) .foregroundStyle(.tint) Text("Notification test!") MKLocalSearch for cities not returning location identities
Hi fellow developers, I'm encountering an issue when using MKLocalSearch to search for cities. Here's my setup: I'm using MKLocalSearch with an MKLocalSearch.Request object. I've set the resultTypes to .address to focus on address results. The problem: When I receive the search response, it includes the locations as expected. However, these locations don't have an identity or alternative identities. Questions: Is this the expected behavior when searching for cities? Without an identity, how can I uniquely identify and store these city results in my database? Would it be appropriate to store the city name, country, and coordinates instead? Thanks in advance!
