Devices overview
If you’re a member of the Apple Developer Program, you can use ad hoc distribution to distribute apps directly to users on a limited set of registered devices. Ad hoc distribution doesn’t need to be configured in App Store Connect or require beta app review. You can register up to 100 of the following devices, per product family, per membership year:
- iPhone
- iPad
- iPod touch
- Mac
- Apple Watch
- Apple TV
- Apple Vision Pro
Disabling devices
You may disable a device on your list during the year, but doing so won’t increase your number of available devices. When resetting your list, make sure to remove all devices you no longer use for development and testing before adding any new devices.
Restoring your device list
At the start of your new membership year, Account Holders, Admins, and App Managers will be presented with the option to remove listed devices and restore the available device count to 100 when first signing in to Certificates, Identifiers & Profiles. You can remove specific devices, remove all devices to restore your available device count to 100 per product family, or continue without removing any devices. Once you complete this process, new devices can be added.
Membership expiration
Thirty days before membership expiration, you’ll have the option to download a copy of your registered test device list and/or opt in to have all devices removed immediately upon expiration if you don’t plan to renew membership. If you don’t opt in, all devices will be removed automatically 180 days after membership expiration.
