Severe Battery Drain on watchOS 11 (22R5318h)

Dear Dev Team,

I am writing to report a severe battery drain issue after updating my Apple Watch to watchOS 11 (22R5318h). Since the update, my watch’s battery life has drastically reduced, going from 100% to 0% in just 4 hours.

I have taken the following steps to resolve the issue, but none have been successful:

1.	Performed a fresh reset of the watch.
2.	Reset my iPhone.
3.	Disabled background app activity.
4.	Enabled airplane mode and power saving mode.

Despite these efforts, the problem persists. My watch’s battery health is at 100%, so I believe the issue is related to the software update.

I would appreciate your assistance in resolving this matter as it is significantly affecting the usability of my Apple Watch.

Thank you for your attention to this issue.

——————- Update 1: I have rolled back from iOS 18 beta 4 to iOS 18 beta 3 after reading that the update might be causing the issue with the Apple Watch. Following this, I reset my Apple Watch, including the cellular plan, and did not restore from a backup. However, the problem still persists.

Additionally, I have noticed that the charging time from 30% to 100% has increased to 3 hours and 23 minutes using a 20W Apple charger.

To investigate this issue, we'd need logs from both the watch and the phone in a Feedback report.

Update 3

Today, I updated to watchOS 11 beta 5 (22R5328e) and now the battery life is worse than the previous build. There is no way to roll back to a previous version of watchOS. I request Apple to please provide an option to roll back to a previous OS via iPhone or Mac.

Update 4: I have reset the watch 3-4 times, leaving it off for about 15-20 minutes each time. The battery drain issue seemed to be resolved initially, but it started again afterward. It's been 24 hours now, so it’s not an indexing issue. It seems like something else that the development team forgot to fix since the first beta.

I am seeing the same issue on my watch

I am facing the same issue on my apple watch series 8, watchos 11 beta 5

Update: My friend has both the Apple Watch Series 9 and Ultra 2. Since he was working from home, I installed watchOS 11 beta 5 on both devices. Surprisingly, the Series 9 didn’t experience any battery drain issues and continued to perform well, providing a 2-day backup. However, the Ultra 2’s battery backup was reduced significantly, going from 3 days down to just 1 day.

Thank you, Apple, for not fixing the battery draining bug even in the 6th beta. It’s been over a month, and we’ve had to charge our watches three times a day. Why release a beta if you’re not going to address the bugs that users report through the Feedback app? I never expected this from a company like Apple. Yes, it’s our fault for installing the beta, and yes, it’s our fault for trusting the Apple development team. Thank you. This will be my last post. 🙏🏻

@***-Knopper based on the release notes, it is most likely fixed in beta 7. I’m installing as of now and hoping this nightmare will be over soon.

I have the same problem still with 22R5340a. When beta 7 will be released?

I have the same issue on the latest beta (11.0 (22R5348a). Apple watch series 8 (NNP13LL/A) drains within a few hours (i would guess max 6 hours)

Up until yesterday I would get two days off my Apple Watch Series 6. After updating to the public bata of 11, I get four hours then my battery is dead.

Issue exists for me as well. watchOS11 release candidate. Lost 20 % life within 1.5 hours of full charge. Performed the basic triage for battery issues.

My SE also has this problem after updated to watchOS 11 RC. I reset my watch, but it didn't work.

Same error. latest WatchOS 10 version battery runtime ca 24 hours. WatchOS 11.0 11 hours. Something seems broken.

Apple Watch 8

My apple watch series 9 before upgrading to OS11 used to last more than a day...but after upgrading it is draining in 12 hours from 100 to 20 %. I purchased it 1 month ago
